Funko Ascends Bell Tower for Pop! Hunchback of Notre Dame

Nothing makes a man as adventurous as an empty pocket. And nothing quite empties a pocket like Funko’s new Pop! Hunchback of Notre Dame collection.

Quasimodo receives two new versions, including a court jester Fool Outfit. He’s joined by Esmerelda, who makes her Pop! Vinyl debut.

Look for Pop! Hunchback of Notre Dame to ring the clock tower and go on sale in January. But you can pre-order yours today.

Hmmm….I just don’t know. After getting the Summer Convention Quasimodo, I remember feeling like “this is great, I don’t need any more if they come out with a full wave” in regards to Hunchback of Notre Dame Pops. Of course it would be nice to have Judge Frollo, Esmeralda, or Captain Phoebus (I also foresee the gargoyle trio 3-pack on its way) for those who want more….but I don’t need them. I have my one Quasimodo. Unless you are a completionist, I think most people will buy one Quasi and Esmeralda (out of the existing so far). The king of fools is a variant that should have been exclusive and the common Quasimodo looks too sad and is holding an object I really don’t associate with him from the film immensely (again, should have been an exclusive). Would have been better with no items. Overall, I’m glad this series is getting the Pop treatment…but maybe less is more? (Look at Popeye as another example where less has definitely been more.)

While I agree with the “less is more” notion on Pops and that the King of Fools variant should be an exclusive (probably to Hot Topic or BoxLunch), I think they hit it out of the park with these releases. Esmerelda finally comes into the Pop world and Quasi gets his rightful place on the shelf as well.
If anything, there is so much more they can do with this franchise, especially within the Movie Moments line. Just imagine Quasi ringing a bell atop Notre Dame, or even him holding up Esmerelda crying “Sanctuary!”
Should we expect a Judge Frollo, a bloodlust variant of him with a sword, or perhaps him plummeting with a gargoyle from Hell coming later that year? I hope so. It would look great in a collection of crazy villain moments.

Yes to all of that. : )
