Three Options For Collecting Non-Funko Original Characters

Spider-Man, Mickey Mouse and Harry Potter. Once upon a time these icons were considered original characters whose very life was breathed into them by an artist looking to tell a refreshing new tale from a unique perspective.

We love our original characters, hence our affection for Freddy Funko. But sometimes we like to venture outside of the Funko universe in our eternal quest to achieve collectibles nirvana.

In layman’s terms, here are some original characters we think are really neat and would make a stellar addition to your collection.

COARSE

One is a hungry panda bear, while the other a terrified bamboo stalk. Together they’re the latest addition to Coarse’s Friends Feast Series.

Pun Pun and Shoot make their debut at this year’s New York Comic-Con as part of a limited 600-piece, “Your So Delicious” edition. The vinyl figure stands four inches tall and comes in Black and Pink variants.

The famished panda joins previous figures in the Friend Feast Series, including Ruffle and Toast, a pigeon and soon-to-be-devoured slice of bread.

Pun Pun and Shoot are available by visiting the Play House storefront in the hobbyDB Marketplace and retails for $35 prior to shipping.

TOKIDOKI

Tokidoki gets us ready for the Halloween season with its new Caramelo Unicorno figure. The unique character stands five inches tall and sports a stylish Day of the Dead design.

It’ll make a nice compliment to go along with the company’s recent release of its third Mermicorno blind box series – which features eight figures measuring 2.75 inches in height.

LUNAR VINYL

Keeping with the south of the border theme, Lunar Vinyl has us over the moon with its line of vinyl and 3D toy designs.

In particular, we’re quite fond of their upcoming OG Lucha Dog release. The happy pup stands four-inches tall while flashing a devilish grin that betrays the halo over his head.

The company is also offering its “OG” Lucha Dog character in print, pins and T-shirts.

The OG Lucha Dog will be available to the public after making its debut at DesignerCon from Nov. 16-18 in Anaheim, Calif. You can preorder yours by clicking here.
