An October Recap

Hey PPG’ers!

October was a busy month for us and we wanted to make sure we recap everything that happened at Pop Price Guide, especially those things that are happening behind the scenes! We’ll go over some upcoming features as well, but first, our volunteer team worked hard all month and killed it. They deserve a shout out!

Volunteer Victories!

The team responsible for processing 1,000s of data points daily, PUT. IN. WORK. in October. Crushing over 107,000! Our 3 top volunteers each put in over 10,000 listings in October. The biggest of thanks should go to them for putting in overtime for the guide!

As a team we had a great showing this month with 34 different volunteers tagging in to help. Great timing too, with the Holidays coming up we are expecting to see a big uptick in new holiday items (like the holiday figures below) and are ready for them!

Winter is coming, we are preparing. The development team is cleaning off the furnace, checking the selling process and smoothing out the market for the coming holidays.

Things Completed In Days Past

The last month was filled with a lot of gearing up for this Holiday season. Our development team made huge upgrades to the performance of the site. Some processes within the site, directly related to searches and data finding, were sped up nearly 400%. This helps with searches within the guide and marketplace.

With the Holidays coming up we looked at the marketplace and found a few systems we could improve to help the entire experience. Based on our search and your feedback, we built in a system that encourages sellers to use their own images, rather than stock photos, to ensure the item and condition match the description.

The development team is finishing up a few more performance tasks and then gets to focus on fun things for the Holidays.

Things Completing In Days to Come

The Dev team stayed lowkey in October, making the speed improvements to the site so that we could move forward with some of those features that have been missed. We all agree that this is the perfect time to ramp up the cool stuff.

You can expect to start seeing the sorting features coming back into the guide. The sorting features have been widely missed and we will be thankful to have them back (see what we did there). From there we will move over to the personal collection side of things and have a few gifts in the workshop (we’re really pushing the holiday angle).

If you have any feature ideas, want to comment on the updates or have a question about plans, don’t hesitate to email [email protected] or comment below! We will definitely answer any questions and be taking notes while moving forward!

As always, Cheers and Happy Collecting from the Geeks at Pop Price Guide!

This is a place for collecting, not self satisfying articulations of one's projected value. Man, I really like how that sounds.

I was wondering if you guys will ever input a feature where if you are looking at someones wantlist, it just shows up which pops you have, if any, on the side of the screen or something! Thanks for everything you do and Happy Holidays!

Currently we don’t have that feature in our plans, but I will make a note of it and bring it up in the next development meeting!

Would this be a good spot to ask why the sorting option isn’t available anymore? I keep wanting to sort the Marvel list by item number but can’t 🙁

Hey! The filters were bugged so we had to remove them. Stay tuned and keep your eyes on the blog though, sorting features currently being resolved!
