Funko and GameStop to Introduce More Yu-Gi-Oh! Branded Products Globally

Thanks to Y Organization (which has a strangely familiar website theme), we know that a new deal with 4K Collectibles that includes both Funko and Gamestop will open up a whole new world of Yu-Gi-Oh collectibles. Read on for the official press release.

4K Media Inc., the Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. subsidiary that manages the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand outside of Asia, today announced it has signed licensing agreements with both Funko, a purveyor of pop culture and licensed-focused collectibles, and GameStop, a global retailer of specialty brands and games.

The two deals – negotiated and announced by Jennifer Coleman, Vice President of Licensing and Marketing at 4K Media – bring a new array of Yu-Gi-Oh! collectibles to the worldwide marketplace (outside of Asia).

“We are elated to welcome both Funko and GameStop to the Yu-Gi-Oh! family. We are impressed with both companies’ creative designs for new and engaging collectibles encompassing so many of our central characters and monsters,” said Coleman. “Yu-Gi-Oh! fans around the globe eagerly await each new licensed product introduction, which not only keeps the brand fresh and front of mind, but also serves to invigorate demand for all things Yu-Gi-Oh!”

Funko will be launching a line of stylized vinyl collectible figures and other related products focusing on the fans’ favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! characters and monsters.

Funko CEO Brian Mariotti said, “We’re tremendously excited about Funko’s development of a Yu-Gi-Oh! collectibles line and are honored to be associated with a brand that continues to entertain and engage fans that span such a broad demographic around the world.”

GameStop is also creating a distinctive line of 4-inch Yu-Gi-Oh! collectible figurines available to Yu-Gi-Oh! fans on its on its website(s) and in its stores, as well as in many of its partners’ stores around the world.

“Yu-Gi-Oh! has had nice success as a trading card game, which makes the brand an ideal fit with GameStop, as one of the largest suppliers of the cards globally” added Alex Jones, Senior Manager of Licensed Products – International at GameStop. “Our loyal game playing customers will be thrilled with this new array of exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! collectible characters we will be introducing to our stores.”

  1. Science Fiction – with Firefly (a MUST!), Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica and others!

  2. No worries, thanks for the fix! Just to remind everyone you have to post it on the thread, not here 😉

  3. The theme should be survival! It could have things anywhere from a predator attack to surviving a zombie apocalypse. There would be so many things you could do with this theme!

  4. theme “Reminisce”. I would love to see 80s and 90s stuff ie. garbage pail kids, pogs, even beanie babies lol.

  5. “The Road So Far…” Obviously Supernatural themed BUT could really contain merch from any journey, quest including The Hobbit and/or any traveling situation. Perhaps too vague but I like it.

  6. I would wooing love this months iwia cache. I just didn’t have the funds. So just the standard cache will have to do.

  7. I’d love to see retro comics. Old cool artwork and toys. Especially justice league. Maybe some of the new super powers collection.

  8. In honor the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy. How about a “Star Trek” theme?

There’s plenty of shows and movies memorabilia/toys to draw from.

  9. Cult Classics movie-themed (*cough cough*Funko- please make Princess Bride POPs!!*cough cough*)

  10. Arrows away….Characters that use Bow and Arrows. Green Arrow, Mereida, Legolas, Hawkeye, Robin Hood

  11. a great theme would be Marvel versus DC, Marvel vs Capcom, or Marvel vs Mortal Kombat. It can relate to all geeks whether theyre gamers or comic fans.. Lets go!

  12. I think a good theme for a blind box would be Alien and (or vs, if you want) Predator, with more than just the creatures. These figures could include all of the main characters such as: Ripley, Kane, ash, and Big Chap from Alien. The characters from predator could be Dutch, Predator, Invisible Predator, Chase Invisible Predator with green blood splatter. This set could also include characters from Aliens like Ripley (in forklift) , Bishop (maybe with a ripped in half varient), and Newt. The final thing included in this blind box could be from the movie Alien Vs. Predator with different varients of alien or predator, and of course Lex! I hope this is not too big of an idea! I think all 4 of these movies could fit inside a single series of blind boxes!
    Thanks

  13. Are there Once Upon A Time POP themes yet? If not, then I want those…The Dark One/Crocodile, The Wicked Witch, Prince Charming, Hook, etc So fun!

  14. Space Invaders.

It can be cover video games, or movies about things that basically just try and invade us 🙂

  15. I think a really cool one would be Tron theme, old movie and new. Could even have a rides pop. 😉

  16. 70’s Horror Movies would be my all time dream theme … all of my favorite movies are from that era

  17. I would love to see a Walking Dead Cache! With stuff from the tv show and the comic book!

  18. Disney Villain! or
NOSTALGIA! like 80s 90s themed stuff.. slap bracelets! Butterfly clips! Super NES stuff! Candys! tomogachi! OOOOooooo!! Wouldn’t a Tomagachi Pop! just be the CUTEST! ^,^

  19. I would really like to see an Evolution theme. Before we get ahead of ourselves, let me explain.. I would really like to see a theme based on how much times have changed in the past few decades. We can go on the subject of basically anything; comics, board games, video games, music, movies, tv shows, etc. Then just gather a bunch of those different genres and just put in to one amazingly themed Cache. I believe it would sell out even better than the April theme. Instead of just doing a theme for just one genre. I can see it working with a bunch of different other genres and make it to where everyone would be happy to have. It wouldn’t even just target certain ages, it would attract everyone seeing how we saw things back then in our childhood to how it evolved so much to the kids now on how they see their childhood.
