Carrie Fisher may be gone, but her Pop will live on! Entertainment Earth has just posted Princess Leia in her white gown for preorder, helping solidify Funko’s assurance that more Leia Pops would be made. She was never vaulted to begin with, so don’t pay the crazy prices for one of these!
Princess Leia Pop Making Her Return in June
This is honestly absurd, Carrie Fisher just died… We should not be bringing this original Star Wars Pop back. The value for it will drop exceedingly, which means no more value on such an amazing pop. Such a shame.
Back? It was never gone to begin with. Sellers and gullible buyers created an artificial inflation of the item’s value after she died.
Yeah I agree. I can completely understand the vaule increasing but I remember a little before she passed I saw this particular Leia pop more than few times in stores. So the pop wasn’t that hard to find till after her passing so yeah it was never really “gone”….. Now the blue box slave Leia (which is actually vaulted) or any other rare/ vaulted Leia pop I don’t think Funko should bring those back
Please don’t reproduce
I get your frustration, but I have to agree with PatientX. People who really don’t care about the culture take something special and add an artificial inflation after these actors pass, just so they can turn a profit. Screw that! We have to break the bank if we really want our favorite Pops!? No… that’s the real shame, my friend. Yes, I’m a collector who wants this Pop! in my collection, but there’s not a Pop! that I own that I wouldn’t be okay with everyone owning. I don’t need to have overpriced figures sitting in my room, just so I can act like Gollum over the ring that no one else has.

Dude, she was never vaulted.
This POP! has never been vaulted ^^
how about re-releasing a lot of the pops a lot of people never saw because collecting pops wasnt on the radar a few years ago. Like Lando, jar jar, amidala, emperor, etc….
Idea: Funko should make a limited edition “spirit” (translucent blue) version of this Pop, and donate part of the proceeds to mental health and substance abuse charities.
Yay or nay?
Great idea Zillamon. The scalpers taking advantage of people is disrespectful but so is producing more of her because Carrie Fisher just died. Would they have made more if she didn’t pass away? Probably not. Unless they are donating the proceeds to a charity Carrie was involved in it seems like funko and retailers are just cashing in.
They already have Hoth Leia planned and will release eventually. I’m sure that’s not the only Leia they had planned considering there are 2 more Star Wars movies still to come that were going to feature her.
I agree, they couldn’t make a tribute pop to her due to scalpers unless they just made it so very available that everyone got one and they still donated the proceeds to charity. Even still, no matter how they did it, there would always be a group that claimed Funko only did it to cash in.
Word.
I wonder if it the box will have a black border instead of a blue one.
It won’t be black because these are deemed “from the vault” and this pop wasn’t vaulted.
Great so the one pop I have that I thought could sky rocket will remain just a common.
I say make a short run and then Vault her! Give her the respect Carrie Fisher deserved. Give the masses a short time to find her at cost and not flipper prices!
I keep seeing people use the term remake, reproduce, reissue, rerelease. The point of this is that they had never stopped making them. They were not vaulted. The point was that we will begin to see them pop up again in retail because the fad died down. Just like the Chewbacca lady mask.
I found this very cheap (about $12) just before christmas anyway
This has been a preorder at Ikon Collectables the Australian Disributor since before Carrie died, Funko are not suddenly making more, there were always more coming.
I am LITERALLY sick to my stomach, reading some of these posts. Funko is assuring that the legendary memories Carrie Fisher gave us through Princess Leia and beyond, are properly available, by allowing EVERYONE who wants a Princess Leia Pop! to have one. To think that people were excited a 3 3/4″ was going to go up in value by $20 because of Fishers death…I challenge you to look yourself in the mirror and really think before you type something so self-centered, expressing excitement in your life was built around someone’s death.
I am proud to be a part of the Pop! Community and when I find a rare Pop!, I’m as excited as anyone to add it to my collection. But I do pray, the majority of those out there, wish no ill-will towards others in hoping their collection becomes more valuable.
While I totally understand that this Pop was never vaulted and there has been an artificial inflation on its value lately, it just seems odd that Funko is deciding to start rolling on mass production again so soon after Carrie’s death. While I totally understand that people are going to want to add this to their collection without having to fork over $40 (or more), it was released in 2011 and has NOT been hard to find since then. I feel it should be vaulted, and probably should have been vaulted long before Carrie’s death…would have saved both Funko from looking classless and capitalizing on the death of an actress and for the collectors who actually want their figures to increase in value at some point to not look like greedy monsters. To me, and I’m sure I’ll be crucified for saying this around here, but its corporate decisions like this that bring Funko collecting closer to its bubble bursting…think sports card collecting in the 90’s or beanie babies. At some point there will just be too many of these things clogging up retail shelves, and people just won’t care anymore. There needs to be a window where Funko says “ok, after ___ months/years a figures production ends and we send it to the vault” and if demand is high, release a vault edition or a different pose (like they did with the red, pink and white power rangers).
Lets be honest here…everyone on this site loves to see one of their Pops rise in value, especially ones they have had for a long time that were considered common and less valuable than their original retail price.
I think its a great idea. I’ve seen too many pops sky rocket to because of flippers who want to make a profit. I’ve also met people who want to collect but feel that its way too expensive. Some items don’t even make it on the shelve due to flippers buying them out just to sell for a much hits price. Example: Wamarts exclusive Cantina 3 pack. Pops should be availabe for all not for just the rich and foolish. The only people complaining are those who care about price instead of collecting. Thanks Pops for releasing more.
